NCG
Newcastle College is a further education college in the heart of the North East, which teaches more than 16,000 students each year from its city centre Rye Hill Campus and its specialist academies in Gateshead, Wallsend and Newcastle International Airport.
It is part of NCG, one of the largest not-for-profit education and training organisations in the UK, which is made up of six colleges and two training providers, spread across 61 locations.
The College offers a range of training programmes for those leaving school, as well as apprenticeships, part-time courses, degree courses, employer training and professional qualifications. With access to Taught Degree Awarding Powers (TDAP), the College develops and awards its own Honours and Masters Degrees through the Newcastle College University Centre, designed in collaboration with regional employers.
In June 2017, Newcastle College was awarded the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Silver Award, a government initiative which recognises excellence in teaching at higher education level. In 2018, it received the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education, for the development of its Transport Academy, comprising of Rail and Aviation Academies.
