North East Mayor Kim McGuinness heads the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority (North East MSA) serving an area of 2.2 million people including County Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside and Sunderland.

They aim to improve the quality of life for our people in our communities and to play a leading role in the sustainable growth and prosperity of the region.

Gateshead Council is driven by the desire to provide local people with the best possible services they can. Together with residents and partner agencies, they work throughout the year to provide a huge range of services. These include services for children and young people, adult learning, community safety, tourism, housing, health, and the environment.
