Real Summer In NewcastleGateshead Campaign

"Real Summer", a new summer tourism campaign, has launched to promote NewcastleGateshead as one of the UK’s top city-break destinations.

Running until August 2026, NewcastleGateshead LVEP, part of Experience North East England, is delivering the campaign with lead campaign partners TransPennine Express and Eldon Square, alongside supporting partners LifeMetrocentre and Baltic.

The campaign builds on growing demand for UK city breaks centred around culture, entertainment, food and shared experiences, while reinforcing NewcastleGateshead’s reputation as a welcoming destination full of energy, warmth and brilliant summer experiences.

Who we are targeting and why?

This multi-channel campaign will use various tactics to target UK based city breakers in Leeds, Manchester, York and Edinburgh, with a smaller proportion of activity aimed at families. The campaign aims to:

  • Build brand awareness among short-break audiences
  • Drive visitor engagement, footfall and overnight stays
  • Support and amplify partner activity, attractions and events across the destination
