Newcastle Pride reveals upcoming march route with major update for 2026
This year’s annual Pride march will showcase ‘City of Hope, Streets of Joy’ and allow more time for celebration and reflection among the LGBTQIA+ community.
With Newcastle Pride just days away, organisers are getting ready to welcome thousands of LGBTQIA+ community members and allies for this year’s annual Pride march in the heart of Newcastle’s city centre on Saturday 25th July 2026.
A cornerstone of Newcastle Pride’s celebrations which are delivered in partnership with NE1 and Newcastle City Council, the march will spotlight this year’s theme of City of Hope, Streets of Joy with some big changes to the route and festivities to allow for more time for the community to unite and stand in solidarity with one another.
The march will begin at 12pm at the Civic Centre as usual, with arrivals and registration from 11am before Pride is taken to the streets. The march will travel down Northumberland Street and then for the first year, will culminate in a highly visible gathering at Grey’s Monument which will feature a series of powerful and inspiring speeches from community voices including North East Mayor Kim McGuinness, Deputy Leader of Newcastle City Council Mark Mitchell, Councillor Melissa Harker, Kate Osborne MP, CEO of Curious Arts Phil Douglas and Christine Jackson, Branch Secretary at UNISON. The new route is approximately half a mile and the march will run for an hour until 1pm.
As always, accessibility remains at the forefront when it comes to the annual march, with the new route including dropped kerbs throughout and no steep hills. Marchgoers also will be able to withdraw from the march at any point if needed.
The Newcastle Pride march is free for everyone to attend, welcoming individuals, families, friends, allies and community groups to stand together in celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community. The march also provides local businesses and organisations from across the North East with an opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, by showing their support at the march with a suggested donation. Businesses and local organisations can register for the march before the day online.
The Newcastle Pride march serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing fight for LGBTQIA+ equality, providing an opportunity for individuals and community groups to stand together in support of acceptance and belonging.
