Live jousting returns to Bamburgh Castle for Father's Day weekend
The thunder of hooves will echo around Bamburgh Castle once again this Father's Day weekend as live jousting returns to one of the North East's most spectacular historic settings.
On Saturday June 20 and Sunday June 21 June, daring knights and their highly-skilled horses will take to the castle’s jousting arena - 150 feet above sea-level - for two days of exhilarating tournament action.
Daring trick riding and fast-paced equestrian skills from The Knights of Royal England will take place on the very site where such spectacles would once have captivated audiences at the Castle centuries ago.
Watching the knights riding into the castle grounds is one of those experiences that genuinely gives you goosebumps. It’s a fantastic show which is massively exciting and very entertaining. It’s easy to see why the Jousting Weekend has become such a favourite with visitors of all ages.
Visitors can expect high-octane clashes, breathtaking displays of horsemanship and rivalries as the competing knights battle it out for glory.
Alongside the action comes plenty of comedy, crowd interaction and laugh-out-loud moments, making this a family-friendly event packed with entertainment from start to finish.
The jousting field will open at 1.00pm on both days with the tournament beginning at 2.00pm until 3.00pm
Due to the popularity of the event, capacity in the jousting arena is limited and visitors are advised to book in advance. Tickets - priced the same as standard castle admission (£19.95 adults / £10 children) - include full access to Bamburgh Castle grounds and staterooms plus entry to the jousting arena.
