INNSiDE by Meliá Newcastle and Baltic Continue Art Partnership with New Exhibition by MarkMaker (Mark Adam)

INNSiDE by Meliá Newcastle, part of Meliá Hotels International,  has announced the latest exhibition as part of its ongoing partnership with  Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, continuing its commitment to championing North-East creativity.

Launching on Thursday 6th August, the hotel's first-floor gallery space will showcase a new collection by Newcastle-based mixed media artist Mark Adam, who works under the creative name MarkMaker (MM).

Known for his bold, graphic style, MM creates vibrant mixed media artworks that combine typography, laser-cut elements, spray-painted wood, layered materials and limited-edition prints. Drawing on his background in graphic design, his work sits at the intersection of contemporary art, street-inspired aesthetics and handcrafted making, resulting in striking pieces that balance precision with experimentation.

This year-round partnership between INNSiDE by Meliá Newcastle and Baltic continues to transform the hotel's public spaces into an evolving cultural destination, allowing guests and visitors to discover contemporary art in an inspiring hospitality setting. MarkMaker becomes the latest artist to be featured as part of the collaboration, following previous exhibitions by Sofia Barton, Jimmy Turrell, Ben Holland and Zoë Cotterill.

Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, Mark Adam has built a distinctive artistic practice centred around bold graphic forms and expressive typography. Working across laser-cut wood, spray paint, layered materials and print, his artworks are characterised by vibrant colour palettes and dynamic compositions that reflect both his design background and passion for hands-on craftsmanship. Alongside original pieces, MM also produces limited-edition prints, making his work accessible to collectors while maintaining the energy and visual impact of his larger installations.

At INNSiDE Newcastle, each stay is enriched with art, lifestyle and wellness curated by the hotel's local experts, reflecting INNSiDE by Meliá's 'Stay Curious' philosophy, which encourages guests to discover authentic local experiences throughout their stay. All artworks featured in the exhibition will be available to purchase through Baltic Shop, giving visitors the opportunity to take home a unique piece from one of the North East's most exciting contemporary artists.

In 2026, INNSiDE Newcastle celebrates five years in the city. Located on the city’s historic Quayside, the hotel features 161 rooms, a vibrant Open Living Lounge, and Gino D’Acampo Quayside, the hotel’s restaurant, bar, and outdoor terrace with views across the River Tyne.

The new exhibition by MarkMaker (Mark Adam) will be on display at INNSiDE Newcastle from Thursday 6th August for a four-month duration, with further artist collaborations set to be announced throughout the year.
