Bamburgh Castle's new Christmas experience strikes a festive chord
There may be 146 days until Christmas, but Bamburgh Castle is already ringing in the festive season as it unveils its spectacular new festive theme for 2026
A Christmas Carousel is a dazzling festive extravaganza inspired by the songs and music of the season. Running from Saturday 14 November 2026 until Sunday 3 January 2027, this year's immersive experience inside Bamburgh Castle celebrates the timeless songs and carols that have become the soundtrack to Christmas, inviting visitors on a magical journey through music, memory and festive tradition.
Created by acclaimed theatrical designer Charlotte Lloyd Webber and her award-winning team at Charlotte Lloyd Webber Event Design, the castle's magnificent staterooms will be transformed into a series of theatrical festive worlds inspired by much-loved Christmas musical classics.
Visitors will journey through enchanting worlds inspired by festive favourites including Walking in a Winter Wonderland, We Three Kings and the chimes of Carol of the Bells. Along the way, they'll discover a magical snow-covered woodland walk, lavish Victorian Christmas feasts, beautifully decorated trees and elegant angelic installations, all designed to complement the castle's unique history and interiors.
What started as a festive display has grown into a Christmas tradition for so many people, with families and friends now returning year after year. That brings with it a wonderful responsibility to keep surprising people while staying true to the magic that makes Christmas at Bamburgh Castle so special.
Planning begins almost as soon as one Christmas ends. Charlotte Lloyd Webber and her brilliant team have been working with us since January to bring this year's vision to life and we're delighted to finally unveil A Christmas Carousel.
Christmas means something different to everyone, but there are certain songs and traditions that instantly transport us back to happy times. That's exactly the feeling we'll be capturing with this year's extravaganza.
Last year's Christmas experience featured on Channel 4's A Very British Christmas, showcasing Bamburgh Castle as one of Britain's leading heritage Christmas attractions to a national television audience.
A Christmas Carousel runs from Saturday 14 November 2026 until Sunday 3 January 2027, with entry included in standard castle admission.
Winter tickets are on sale now at www.bamburghcastle.com. Personalised Meet Father Christmas experiences and festive events, including Wreath Making, will also be available to book on selected dates, with further details to be announced soon.
