Paul Hanson

A former DWP Civil Servant who joined North Tyneside Council in 2006 as Strategic Director of Community Services with responsibility for many of the front line services including 7 years as Director of Adult Social Services. Became Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer in November 2013 with responsibility for all front-line services.

Chief Executive since July 2018, Paul is committed to looking after his hometown and making sure the borough is a great place to live, work and visit. Chaired the Northumbria Local Resilience Forum Strategic Coordination Group for the duration of the COVID19 pandemic. Non-executive director of NEXUS (the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Authority) and of SOLACE in Business.

Married with a daughter, Paul is a Scout leader, mediocre guitar player and long-suffering (until recently) Newcastle United season ticket holder.
