Candle & Bell

Founded in 2013, Candle & Bell is one of the North East's leading producers of film, television, audio and branded video content.

Based at Pride Media Centre in Gateshead, the company has grown from a bedroom start-up into a multi-award-winning independent with credits for the BBC, Channel 4 and Film4.

Candle & Bell has produced films for the National Trust, Historic England, Durham University and the Natural History Society of Northumbria, as well as branded content for Boots, Adidas, END., Tombola, Rightmove and many more. Every project is shot in-house, with no stock footage, and is built around real stories told cinematically.

A three-time recipient of the BBC Small Indie Fund for comedy, Candle & Bell has sitcoms in development with BBC Comedy and streaming platforms. The company also produced Tom & Lauren Are Going OOT! for BBC Radio 4, which broke listening records in the North East.
